Role of Surgical Therapy for Primary Intracerebral Hematomas

Abstract
|
|
|
The results of treatment for 103 patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage are reported.
The outcome of surgical therapy was compared with conservative therapy. Surgical therapy gave better results in putaminal hemorrhage when the consciousness was moderately disturbed.
The factors such as level of consciousness, location and amount of hematoma, extension into ventricle and high degree of hypertension were related with the prognosis of primary intracerebral hematomas.
